9/11 has come and gone . . .

9/11 has come and gone . . . and with it the controversy over Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s decision to omit clergy from the solemn ceremony opening the World Trade Center Memorial. Roman Catholic Archbishop Timothy Dolan from New York and Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, executive vice president of the New York Board of Rabbis, have stated they were not troubled by the decision.

Yet evangelical Christian leaders across the country gathered 62,000 signatures on a petition seeking Mayor Bloomberg to include clergy in the 9/11 Memorial ceremony.

What do you think? Was the mayor’s decision appropriate? Should prayer and reference to God have been included in the 9/11 Memorial’s ceremonies?
