Upcoming Events

Sun May 11 - Come join in our Celebration of Pentecost.  What is Pentecost? It is the great 50 days following Easter, (the name Pentecost coming from “pente”, meaning 5 or 50). It has been called the “birthday of the Church,” or “when the Church became the Church.” This year, Pentecost occurs on May 11th. Special music will be sung by our Chancel Choir. We are asking the congregation to wear red on this special day. (Red is the color representing the fire of the Holy Spirit). A Pentecost band will be playing, too, so if you would like to play in this band, please contact Bill Goff. The music is easy!

Sat May 17 - Please come and help the Facilities Team in the Annual Spring Cleaning around the church.  Work starts at 8:30am and wraps up around 2:00pm.  Free pizza lunch is provided for all workers.  In addition, we're providing nursery service to watch young kids while their parents work.  You are encouraged to bring your own cleaning supplies, lawn, and garden tools.  It's a great time to come and meet and work side-by-side with fellow church members.  Come share your cleaning talents and help make Northmont an attractive and clean church for visitors as well as members.

Sat May 17 - The next session of Dinah's Book Club will be held on Saturday morning, May 17th in the Malawi Room. The focus book this time is Eat, Pray, and Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Discussion will begin promptly at 9:30a after a brief fellowship time. BYOC (Bring Your Own Coffee, or tea, or water, or whatever you prefer!) For more information, contact Lisa Caswell at 412-367-3567 or lisacas@comcast.net.

Sun May 18 - Sunday School Teach Recognition Sunday @ 11am worship service.  Please come join in honoring all Northmont members who graciously gave of their time to facilitate a stellar Christian Education program at Northmont.

Sun May 18 - Worship In The Wired World @ 6pm in Northmont Sanctuary.  Come join as we try a new style of worship with a visiting contemporary worship team from another church.

Mon Jun 23 - Fri Jun 27 - Vacation Bible School in the morning each day. Children who will be age 4 by September 1, 2008, through children who are going into 3rd grade in the fall are welcome and encouraged to attend (and bring friends!). Our theme this year is Son Harvest Country Fair. We will be learning about the fruits of the Spirit. It’s sure to be a great time!!  And if you'd like to be part of this year's VBS staff, we need your help!  Are you "crafty", corny or creative? Fun-loving, zany or silly? Do you love being with children? Then we want YOU for this year's VBS Staff. We are looking for some folks to fill the positions of Publicity Coordinator, Skit Leader and Actors, Decorating Coordinator, Craft Leader, Recreation Game Leader, Bible Story Leader, Group Guides and Helpers. All the activities and Bible lessons are already planned. VBS is June 23-27 from 9:00a-12:30p. If you would like more information about staff positions, please check the Help Wanted board in the hallway next to the church office or ask Mandi Richey or Nadia Buzzelli, this year's co-directors.
