Mission

Northmont Church serves its congregation, community, the nation, and the world—in Christ—through reaching out with time, talent, and treasure to support . . .

We are motivated to make Christian outreach and mission a vital part of our church life by the words spoken by Jesus and recorded in the New Testament book of Matthew. We commit 12 percent of our total offering to mission.

Northmonters Are a People Oriented to Mission
Once a month Northmont groups prepare and serve a meal to homeless men at Pleasant Valley Shelter on Pittsburgh’s North Side. Weekly, the congregation collects food for the North Hills Food Bank. Each Christmas, our Deacons sponsor an Angel Tree project which gathers gifts and hosts a party for the children of Crisis Center North. Other groups involved in mission include:

  • Presbyterian Women
  • Triangles
  • Northmont Brotherhood Club (NBC)
  • Beacons
  • Knit Wits
  • Child Development Center

Our Malawi Partnership
Involved in a partnership with the Mangochi Church located in Malawi, Africa, Northmont has helped to fund the construction of a new Sunday school building. We correspond regularly, exchange ideas, and are involved together in various other projects. Members of Northmont have occasionally traveled to Malawi and visited the Mangochi congregation. In turn, Northmont has been visited by representatives of the Mangochi congregation who have come to the United States.
