UNISON CONFESSION

Confident of your care and mercy, we pray now for ourselves. We are many things to many people, but in your sight, your sons and daughters. Forgive our many sins and shortcomings. Where we have grown lax, encourage us in obedience. Where we have grown hard, restore us in tenderness. Where we have grown confused, renew us in purpose. Where we have offended someone, we would go and put in right today, saying, “I’m sorry.” Surely your arm is not shortened that it cannot save, nor is your grace reserved for only those who deserve it. Your grace is poured out upon all, deserving or not, who seek your face and would live to your glory, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

SILENT CONFESSION & DECLARATION OF PARDON

Leader:               O God, whose will is that we be free, and who did give your Son that we

might be delivered from all coercive powers. Make us examples of your

freedom, proclaimers of your freedom and instruments of your freedom.

Community:      This we ask through Jesus Christ, who came to set us free, forgive and

                          restore. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM                                                            William J. Baierl, Elder

Unison Prayer: Ever faithful God, we give thanks that baptism is the sign and seal of our incorporation into Christ. In the water, we participate in Jesus’ Spirit and resurrection, and we rise to newness of life in Christ. Here the Holy Spirit binds us together with the saints who have gone before us and we are held in the faithfulness of God, adopted into the covenant family of the Church, and welcomed as Christ’s own. We pray that Michael Morrison Halapin and Christopher James Rosenthal will grow strong in faith and become faithful disciples. We pray for their parents Richard and Joel Halapin and John and Gail Rosenthal, and ask that you will give them wisdom and understanding in bringing up their children to know and serve Jesus Christ. Amen.

*APOSTLE’S CREED

(sung to “Nettleton” tune (Come thou Fount of Every Blessing)

I believe in God Almighty, Father of all things that be,

Maker of the earth and heavens, Keeper of the sky and sea.

I believe in God’s Son, Jesus, now for us both Lord and Christ,

Of the Spirit and of Mary born to bring abundant life.

I believe that Jesus suffered, scourged and scorned and crucified,

Taken from the cross, was buried, true Life there had truly died.

I believe that on the third day Christ was raised up from the grave,

Then ascended to God’s right hand.  He will come to judge and save.

I believe in God’s own Spirit, bonding all the saints within

One Church, catholic and holy, where forgiveness frees from sin,

In the body’s resurrection, for the breaking of death’s chain

Gives the life that’s everlasting.  This the faith that I have claimed.

WHO WILL KNOW about my problem if I talk to a Stephen Minister? This is a question many people ask. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of Stephen Ministry. No one knows what is talked about in a caring relationship except for the person him - or herself and the Stephen Minister. If you have a burden you need to share, perhaps a Stephen Minster can help.
