CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
Community: The Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father loves us and has given us eternal comfort and good hope.
Leader: God will comfort us and strengthen us in every good work and word. 2 Thess. 3:16
Community: The Lord of peace himself gives us peace at all times in all ways, for the Lord is with us all.
*PROCESSING HYMN “Lift High the Cross” No. 371
*PRAYER OF ADORATION AND INVOCATION
UNISON CONFESSION
God of grace, you have called us out of the darkness of selfishness into the light of love; forgive us for those times when we have strayed back into the ways of self-centeredness, by living only for ourselves and neglecting the needs of those about us. Pardon us for restricting our love to those of our own family or group. In the days to come, may your Spirit lead us into a wider fellowship with all people and a deeper devotion to Jesus Christ, whose self-giving we remember again. Amen.
SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: In the scripture is this statement: “The saying is true and worthy of full
acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”

This is the feast of victory for our God, Alleluia! Worthy is Christ, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. Power, riches, wisdom and strength, and honor, blessing, and glory are His. Sing with all the people of God and join in the hymn of all creation: “Blessing, honor, glory and might be to God and the Lamb. Amen.” This is the feast of Victory for our God. For the Lamb who was slain has begun His reign, Alleluia!
ORDINATION & INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS
(8:30) Deacons (11:00) Elders
SCRIPTURE VERSES
Leader: Though we have different gifts, together we are a ministry of
reconciliation led by the risen Christ. We work and pray to make His
church useful in the world, and we call men and women to faith.
Community: So that in the end, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Leader: Within our common ministry, some members are chosen for particular
work as ministers of the word, ruling enders or deacons. In ordination we
recognize these special ministries, remembering that our Lord Jesus said:
Community: Whoever among you wants to be great must become the servant of
all, and if he wants to be first among you, he must be the slave of all.
Just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give
His life to set others free.

*THE ORDINATION PRAYER WITH LAYING ON OF HANDS
Prayer by the congregation: God of grace, you have called us to a common ministry as ambassadors of Christ, trusting us with the message of reconciliation: give us courage and discipline to follow where your servants rightly lead us, that together we may declare Your wonderful deeds and show your love to the world; through Jesus Christ the Lord of all, amen.

THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
THE INVITATION AND WORDS OF INSTITUTION
Leader: All who trust in Christ are invited to share in this celebration of the self-
giving of our Lord.
Community: We come admitting our need. We come to be with Christ. May he
become known to us in breaking bread.
Leader: The Scripture says that our Lord took some bread and blessed it and
broke us and gave it to His disciples saying: “Take this and eat it, for
it is my body, sacrificed for you.”
Community: He also took the cup and said, “Drink from it each one of you, for
this is my blood which seals God’s new covenant. It is for the
forgiveness of sins.”
THE GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Leader: Lord our God, we thank you that in Jesus Christ we find new life and new
beginnings, with a new future of meaning and hope.
Community: We offer ourselves to you as you have offered yourself to us in Jesus
Christ our Lord. Grant that we may receive this sacrament as a
turning point in our lives. May we grow to be like Christ our Lord.
Leader: Lord Jesus Christ we remember you as you have requested.
Community: We remember you for your strong faith, for your union with God,
for your love for all people.
Leader: Give praise to our Lord Jesus Christ;
Community: Dying You destroyed Death,
Rising You restored our life,
Lord Jesus, come in glory. Amen.
Leader: God of unfailing love, we present to you all those of our faith community
who are sick or in need of your healing grace.
Community: As Jesus touched the minds and bodies of the ill and troubled, so
may you, O living Christ, heal our infirmities now.
Leader: The names of those requesting prayer are now offered.

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever, amen.
COMMUNION SERVED BY INTINCTION
(If you choose not to come forward, we will come to where you are in the pew.)
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Lord Jesus, we thank you for your words of eternal life. By them we are awakened to a new and higher way. Help us to live by your commandment of love; to be pure in heart and merciful. Enable us to be transparently sincere and sensitive to feel what others feel. Grant us the courage to return good for evil and to suffer injury rather than strike back. Teach us how to trust in God and not be anxious about the things of life. Shine your truth in our hearts, Christ Jesus, that we may be your light for the world. Implant your truth deep within us, that we may be free indeed. Amen.

This year, we will be observing Ash Wednesday with a Healing and Wholeness service at 7:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Northmont. There will not be a dinner this evening, as in years past, (and as erroneously mentioned in this month’s Piper). We will prepare for Lent by offering the opportunity to come forward with our prayer requests and receive anointing oil on the forehead if so desired. Our Stephen Ministers will be here to pray with us. Also, Lenten devotional materials from our Worship Committee will be distributed, the Chancel Choir will sing, and our seminary student, Chris Brown, will assist. Come one and all, and begin the Lenten season on a spiritual note!
THE MEALS ON WHEELS in West View and Gwen Spahr thank everyone that baked desserts in January for this very important program. It is greatly appreciated.
HE ASKED YOU LAST NIGHT OVER DINNER. The ring is beautiful. And now there’s so much to do before the wedding, and so many questions about the future. During this happy, but busy time of your engagement, a Stephen Minister can be there for you to listen and care.
