PRAYER TIME BEFORE WORSHIP: Lord of wondrous patience, the earth has risen again, emerging from a darkness in a way it has never quite been before, alive with possibilities. You have placed resurrection in my life too. Nurture me in newness, set me free from the tyrannies of habit and blaming. May I begin to see the miracle of life and your grace unfolding to meet all my needs. Urge me to go deeper into my faith. Amen.
PRELUDE “Today, God’s Son Triumphs” J. S. Bach
“Dearest Jesus, We are Here to Listen to Your Word” J. S. Bach
WELCOME, CONCERNS, AND GREETINGS
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Sing praises to the Lord, O you, God’s faithful ones.
Community: For God’s anger is but for a moment, God’s favor is for a
lifetime.
Leader: O God, you have turned our mourning into dancing, you have clothed us
with joy!
Community: So that we may praise you and not be silent, O Lord our God, we
will give thanks to you forever. Let all the people praise you.
*OPENING HYMN “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today!” No. 113
*PRAYER OF PRAISE (unison)
Eternal God, You are love. You have come to us in the faith that sustains us. You have come to us in the glad singing that comes spontaneously. You have come to us in so many ways, and we are grateful. Your Spirit is the bright burning hope that keep us from despair. Let us be wise enough to savor and expand our experiences of joy and growth. Let us be concerned enough to carry to others our experiences of Our Lord. For in His spirit we are called to life, to love, to worship and to serve. In His name. Amen
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE [verse 3 of the first hymn]
Leader: The word of the Lord.
Community: Thanks be to God.
-2-
CONFESSION
Leader: God of life, you turn the dark night of weeping into the bright morning of
gladness.
Community: Your light has shined upon us, calling us as witnesses to your
saving power. Yet we keep silent, and hide your light.
Leader: Forgive our meager witness to the glad news of your light and hope
breaking into our world.
Community: In life, death and resurrection of Jesus, empower us by our
spirit, forgive us by your grace and send us to proclaim this
Gospel to all people. [moment for silent prayers of confession]
DECLARATION OF PARDON
Leader: Hear again the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Community: In Christ, with Christ, through Christ we are forgiven and given
abundant grace and mercy. Thanks be to God.

In life and death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit we trust in the one God, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God. We trust in God, who in sovereign love created the world good. We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
