PRAYER TIME BEFORE WORSHIP: Lord God, you are beyond my comprehension and understanding, yet you seem very near. I know that I am easily frightened by events over which I have no control. Lord, give me steadiness to hang on to hope in spite of my fears. Give me openness to listen to the voice of others in spite of their strangeness. Give me commitment to those things in which I believe, to affirm them in the face of opposition. I know I can ask for these things, O God, because you have promised them in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WELCOME, CONCERNS, AND GREETINGS
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Today is the day the Lord has made.
Community: It is a day for singing and worship.
Leader: God is with us in our celebrations.
Community: Let us not be timid with our praise.
Leader: Let us not withhold our joy or thanksgiving.
Community: Let us sing and worship with all our hearts.
*OPENING HYMN “Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty” No. 482
*PRAYER OF PRAISE (unison)
Wondrous God, we praise you for not only what has been, or for what is, but also for what is yet to be, for you are gracious. We praise you that out of the turbulence of life a kingdom is coming; that out of our songs and struggles, out of our grief and triumphs, your Kingdom is being born in us and in your world. Open us that we may move with you to welcome the new, to see possibilities, to accept our limits, to live with compassion and joy. All in Jesus’ name. Amen
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE [verse 2 of the first hymn]
Praise ye the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen How thy desires e’er have been Granted in what He ordaineth?

sing hymns of joy.
Community: Forgive us when we doubt your resurrection power to breathe
new life into us, our churches, and our communities whom you love.
Leader: Teach us how to trust in the power of your grace, to rest in your
unfailing goodness and to hope in your true promise.
Community: May we rejoice all our days and share the good news that death
is defeated with Christ’s victory over the grave.
[Moment of silent confession]
