PRAYER TIME BEFORE WORSHIP: O God, gather me now to be with you as you are with me. Soothe my tiredness; quiet my fretfulness; curb my aimlessness; relieve my compulsiveness; let me be easy for a moment. I pray that you would deepen my wounds into wisdom; shape my weaknesses into compassion; my fear into trust; my guilt into honesty. O God, gather me to be with you as you are with me. Amen

WELCOME, CONCERNS, AND GREETINGS
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Let all the peoples praise you, O God, let all the peoples praise
you.
Community: Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you, O God
guide the nations of the earth.
Leader: Let the people praise you, O God, let them lift their voices and
their lives in thanksgiving.
Community: The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has
blessed us.
All: Let all the earth worship God’s holy name.
*OPENING HYMN “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” No. 464
*PRAYER OF CELEBRATION (unison)
Holy God, hear us as we pray. Take the faltering and stumbling words we say and turn them into songs, that we may give God the praise we want to give. Speak to us as we pray. Bring merciful and forgiving words today from God, so that we will find His peace. Come to us today, telling us anew of the dying and rising of Jesus Christ, that we may discover again the joy of living as disciples. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” No. 464

LITANY OF CONFESSION
Leader: God of grace and glory, the wideness of your mercy extends
beyond all we could even imagine.
Community: In kindness you have drawn us to yourself, claiming us
who were far from you as your own beloved people.
Leader: Yet we refuse mercy to those who offend us, to those who differ
from us, to those we deem unlovely or unworthy.
Community: Forgive our rush to judgment; by your spirit cleanse our
hearts, so that we would show mercy to others, even as
we have received mercy. [Moment of silent confession]
DECLARATION OF PARDON
Leader: There is Good News for all of God’s people.
Community: Those who confess, God will bless with forgiveness, joy
and new life. Thanks and praise to God.
