PRAYER TIME BEFORE WORSHIP: Almighty God, who has called and called, and whom I seldom hear, let my heart be open now and my spirit alert to your voice. Gropingly, I reach out in prayer now for others, for men and women who bear burdens of responsibility in our world, for those who stand in places of trust. I pray for those who differ from me. Help me be more secure in you, that I might reach out to others more often. Amen

WELCOME, CONCERNS, AND GREETINGS
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: O Lord, how great you are. On the first day of the week we
commemorate your creation of the world and all that is in it.
Community: Thank you for the greater light that shines in Jesus Christ.
Leader: How great you are. On the first day of the week you raised Jesus from
the dead.
Community: Raise us with him to a new quality of faith and life.
Leader: You are great, O Lord. Again on the first day of the week you sent your
Spirit on your disciples.
Community: Allow, O Lord, that Spirit to fill us that we might worship you in
truth and with joy.
*OPENING HYMN “The Church’s One Foundation” No. 442
*PRAYER OF CELEBRATION
Praise, be to you, O Lord, not only for what has been, or for what is, but also for what is yet to be, for you are gracious beyond all telling. We praise you that out of the turbulence of our lives, your kingdom is being shaped by our bits of loving, our slivers of trusting, our efforts of worshipping. Turn us loose, Lord that we may welcome new possibilities brought to us by your Spirit, so that we may live with compassion and joy all our days. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE [verse 4 of the first hymn]
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Leader: God of grace, your voice is still and small, as the prophet said, and other
voices are so loud and demanding.
-2-
Community: We confess that we have not spent time or energy to clearly
discern your Call, your voice.
Leader: We have spent much time avoiding people, not even thinking about them
as your have directed us to do.
Community: Have mercy on us. Forgive our sin and raise us to new life that
we may serve you faithfully and enthusiastically welcome and
care for your people.
[Moment of silent confession]
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: God persists in speaking quietly and directly to us. God continually
reminds us of the Good News.
Community: Through Christ, in Christ, with Christ we are forgiven, our failure
is erased and we have new life. Thanks be to God
