PRAYER TIME BEFORE WORSHIP: O Lord God, you have created me, and in that creation you have placed within me the image of yourself. I am not always brave, I am not always honest, I am not always loving. Deliver me from discouragement. Keep me from losing faith. Hold onto me, O Lord, when I cannot hold on to you. Amen

“Brethern, We Have Met to Worship” arr. Carter
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Amidst the noise and racket of the world, we struggle to hear God’s
still, small voice.
Community: Hearing it as we do, seeing His mighty works, gives us joy and
hope.
Leader: Knowing the Lord speaks to us and acts in our lives, we cannot remain
silent.
Community: With joy, enthusiasm and energy we tell the world, we show
our joy, we give our love. Thanks and praise be to God.
All: Come let us worship, let us raise our hearts and voices to God.
*OPENING HYMN “God of the Sparrow” No. 272
*PRAYER OF CELEBRATION
Lord, thank you for each moment, for the refreshing wind, the gentle rain, for the budding flower, for growing children. Soften us to receive whatever comes to us as a gift and to praise you in it. Thank you for these holy moments, the music, the child’s eye, the touch and the tears, the beauty of this time. Thank you for life and love and for Jesus, His gifts and graces that are made fresh in us each day. We offer this prayer of praise and thanksgiving in His name. Amen.
*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE [verse 6 of the first hymn]
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Leader: Redeeming God, through Jesus you have come to set us free from sin
and death:
Community: Still, we cling to old ways of bondage, rather than embracing
your freedom.
-2-
Leader: Forgive us, merciful Savior; for though we long for you, we reject the
liberation you offer us.
Community: Open our eyes to the gift of your freedom. And give us strength
to stand firm in it. Open our hearts to the depth of your love,
and stir us to love as we have been loved. Unite us in the love
and freedom of the Spirit. [Moment of silent confession]
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: The door is thrown open; the burden of sin is lifted in and through
Jesus Christ.
Community: Our lives, our words and deeds display this Good News that we
are forgiven.
