WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:           All you faithful people, praise God, who sits upon a throne, surrounded

                        by angels.

Community: The angels declare that the entire earth is full of God’s
     glory.

Leader: God’s servant Isaiah proclaimed that he was lost, guilty and unworthy of standing before God.
Community: God blotted out Isaiah’s guilt and sin.
Leader:           God heals our transgressions and prepares us to share God’s healing

                          power.

Community:    We praise God for calling us and sending us to heal the world

                                          in God’s holy name.

*OPENING HYMN                “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!”                  No. 138

*PRAYER OF CELEBRATION

Almighty God, we are a group of your faithful children gathered together.  We pray today that You would sharpen our hearing so we may listen to your voice.  When you call us, help us to understand where you want us to go and what you want us to do when we get there.  Please open our eyes to see injustice where it occurs and help us to do something about it.  Help us to remember we are healed of our sin and guilt, so we may feel strong enough to share your love in the way you command.  Heal our deafness and our blindness and we will go where you send us.  In Jesus’ name we boldly pray.  Amen.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE [verse 4 of the first hymn]

                                                          -2-

 PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God who calls and sends us, we confess we do not listen for You as diligently as we should.  We ignore Your calls to enlighten the world with Your message of love and forgiveness.  Like Isaiah and Simon Peter, we are sinful and guilty people.  Please call us anew and equip us to share Your love with the world.  We pray in Your merciful name.  Amen.

    [moment for silent confession]

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:           Glory be to the God of all peace, whose Son offers us forgiveness and

                          joy.

Community:    Through the love shown us in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

                               Thanks be to God.
