To Everything there is a Season

In Ecclesiastes we read “to everything there is a season” and what a beautiful season of the year this is.  All around us we see evidence of God.  The bright glowing colors of dancing leaves, neighbors, friends and family busy with their autumn gardening while setting out pumpkins and fall flowers, crisp days and cooling nights, and even the rain which brings the promise of new life in the spring, all show us the steadfast love and presence of God in our daily lives.

Soon it will be Thanksgiving with Christmas around the corner. Stores have merchandise which is ahead of the calendar.  It is easy to work and live ahead of today, trying to be ready for tomorrow.

God gives us the gift of each day and each season, one at a time, to love, honor, and trust in Him.  By slowing down and smelling the roses, or warm cider and apple pie, we show our gratitude to God for all that we have received.  May you find in this day, and this season of the year and of your life, the sweet sight and sound of God at your side.

I smelled the roses this Christmas and it made me ever more grateful for all that I have. Hope you had a wonderful holiday too.
